Abandoned Vehicles

It is an offence to abandon a motor vehicle or anything that has formed part of a motor vehicle an any land in the open air or on any other land forming part of the highway.

A person found guilty of such an offence may be punished by a fine of up to £2500 or a custodial sentance. From April 2006 Mid Beds District Council may issue a fixed penalty notice of £200 to the last registered keeper of vehicles found to be abandoned. We will do our best to remove abandoned vehicles as quickly as possible however there are a number of procedures we have to carry out by law before a removal may take place.

To report an abandoned vehicle please call Environmental Services on 08452-304040 or email us at Customer.Services@midbeds.gov.uk It is important when reporting an abandoned vehicle that you give the location, registration number, make and model of the vehicle.

Unwanted / End of Life Vehicles

If your vehicle has reached the end of it life we can remove it for you. Please complete the attached form. N.B. This service only applies to private vehicles not exceeding a gross weight of 3.5 tonnes which are in easily accessible locations
