Special Collections

The special collection service is for residents of Mid Beds who have bulky items for removal. Collections are made by special arrangement, and items for collection should be left in an accessible location, ideally at the front of the property. There is a charge for this service. Concessions apply for individuals on low incomes in receipt of a means tested benefit.

The following items cannot be collected using the Special Collection Service:

• Gas Bottles - These are usually returnable to the supplier (consult Yellow Pages)
• Oil Tanks - These are usually returnable to the supplier (consult Yellow Pages)
• Paint /Chemicals (including empty containers)
• Tyres
• Soil / brick rubble / concrete and general builders rubbish
• Oversized garden waste (large branches etc.)
• Storage Heaters with asbestos (anything that dates after 1966 should be ok for collection)

Should you wish to dispose of these or other hazardous waste items then you may wish to check whether your local Tidy Tip will take the waste, otherwise you will need to contact an appropriate contractor from the phone book. Details of the Tidy Tips are as follows:

The opening times for these Tidy Tips are:

9am - 5pm (Sept - April); 9am - 7pm (May - Aug)

The cost for a standard bulky waste collection (subject to inspection) is £43.50 per load

(Those in receipt of means tested benefits - £22).
