Welcome to the Environmental Services home page. We deliver a wide range of services relating to Environmental Health and Housing Issues. The three teams working to provide these services, dealing with businesses and members of the public are as follows:

Contract Services- Dealing with services provided on behalf of us by contractors, including:

• Waste Collection
• Special Collections
• Abandoned Vehicles
• Street Cleansing
• Flytipping
• Recycling and Composting
• Pest Control
• Dog Warden Service

Work Environment - Dealing with issues relating to trade premises and work practices, including:

• Air Quality Management
• Animal Welfare and Licensing
• Food Safety
• Health and Safety at Work
• Nuisances (Noise, Smoke, Accumulations, Odour etc) from commercial premises or activities
• Water Quality
• Construction Site Issues
• Contaminated land
• Regulation of Industrial Processes

Home Environment - Dealing with Housing issues and nuisances from dwellings, including:

• Housing Conditions (Rented Properties)
• Houses in Multiple Occupation
• Housing Grants
• Empty Homes
• Nuisances (Noise, Smoke, Accumulations etc) from dwellings
• Intruder Alarms
• Filthy and Verminous Properties
• Drainage (Not Land Drainage)
• Caravans and Mobile Homes
• Gypsy/Traveller Issues
• Emergency Planning
• Public Health Burials and Exhumations

Housing Strategy and certain statutory housing functions such as:

• Homelessness
• Housing Advice
• The Housing Register
• Supporting People

are covered by the Strategic Housing Team within Community Services

As we operate under a legal framework, we sometimes have to take enforcement action to ensure that risks to health, safety, welfare or the environment are removed or reduced.
