The Conservation & Design Team

We are a highly experienced team here to provide advice on the conservation and design aspects of the District's built environment.

Although much of our work is involved with the development control process we also:

  • give free advice on the repair, restoration and alteration of historic buildings,
  • advise on the likelihood of buildings being listed and assess the suitability of proposed works to buildings which are listed,
  • advise on the management of complex historic buildings through conservation plans / services strategies and help owners reconcile historic buildings,
  • propose areas to be designated as conservation areas and produce appraisal/management documents for existing conservation areas,
  • advise on possible grant aid for historic building projects and run grant aid schemes for historic buildings , and
  • encourage interest in the District and its buildings through talks and the production of information leaflets.
