Old Warden & Old Warden Park Conservation Area Review

An exhibition was held at Old Warden Village Hall on Saturday 22nd October 2005 to mark the launch of a month long consultation exercise into a review of the existing conservation area. The review considers the setting, character and appearance of the conservation area and areas in need of enhancement are also identified. The public consultation period finished on 22nd November 2005.The proposed boundary changes and Draft Character Area document are still available to download from the right of this page.

Four additions and three subtractions are proposed to the conservation area, the additions being Old Warden Park, West End of Bedford Road, land to the rear of the former Old Warden Lower School and land to the West of St. Leonard Church. Areas proposed to be excluded are land to the south of Warden Lodge, to the north east of entrance to Mount Pleasant Farm and land to the west side of the High Street between Laundry Farm and the Thatched House.

Old Warden Conservation Area was designated in October 1971 and was reviewed in July 1989. This review is one of a series being carried out by Mid Bedfordshire District Council and will enable Development Control to determine whether proposals preserve or enhance the character or appearance of the Conservation Area and its setting.
